Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Academy MetroWest’s Blog!

Academy MetroWest is a children’s group therapy program located in Natick, MA. Our groups meet in a gymnasium setting and center on cooperative, non-competitive physical activity as a means of helping children and adolescents enhance social skills and self-image. Participants at Academy MetroWest range in age from 6 – 15 and present with a wide range of issues, including ADHD, Asperger’s Disorder, Non-verbal Learning Disorder, and other issues in which social skills delays are a significant part of the profile.

My goal in writing this blog is to focus on issues related to kids and adolescents – particularly those who have been described by that popular adjective “quirky.” Owing to the work I’ve done here at Academy MetroWest for the past 18+ years, the focus is likely to be on issues related to social skills but I’m planning on delving into other issues as well. I hope to make things informative and fun. Welcome aboard!

  1. Hi all at Academy MetroWest,

I wasn’t sure how to reach someone directly other than through the blog. I assume it will be seen by you first anyway, which is great. Please let me know your thoughts.

I’m reaching out to you on behalf of PlayLab because the postings and
social networking on your blog reflects our own beliefs about children
and education. We have an amazing new initiative coming up, and I
wanted to get more information on contributing to your site.

Like you, PlayLab thinks differently about education. We believe that
creativity and innovation are the most important traits to nurture.
Imagine a workplace where every member of the team is able to develop
creative business solutions. Imagine children excited to learn,
instead of asking, “Why do I have to learn this?”/ Imagine your child
showing you how to operate the Morse Code system they made out of pipe
cleaners, and craft sticks, instead of asking you to purchase the
    latest video game.

It is possible. PlayLab is making it happen. The question is: how long
will it take? Your involvement will help bring it to realization.

We’re launching a Kickstarter campaign to raise funding for our new
at-home learning system, which will have a global impact. The
successful project will also raise social awareness and create a new
following for this type of innovative education that benefits
children, and will allow us – and our social partners, like your blog
    – to create new connections and develop new audiences.

We’d like more information on posting a guest blog on your site. I
    look forward to hearing you.

    All the best,

    Kassia Kukurudza Programs Manager
